Additives are substances that are added during the preparation and storage of food to maintain its freshness or to accentuate its sensory characteristics. The food colorings, on the other hand, are intended to enhance the color of the food or to modify it.
Additives can be added during the preparation of food according to the limits given by the Ministerial Decree 209/1996 and subsequent amendments and additions and by the Reg CE 1333/2008 and subsequent amendments and additions.
